Scripture Reading – Mark 1: 14-20

Reflection – Called to the Future

Questions I am Pondering

  • What do we do when Jesus calls us?
  • Where will we be in three years?
  • What do we need to leave behind to get there?

The Interim Boundaries Report is out; this is part of the reorganization of the United Church. You can read it here.

Most of you know about the FREE Loblaw’s Gift Card you can receive due to their price fixing on bread. A great way to contribute to the Food Bank would be to donate the card to the food bank! You can register here.

In Our End is Our Beginning…This Sunday marks the formal end of the Elmsdale Pastoral Charge and the beginning of the as yet unnamed Cooperative Ministry. Please join us this at a special combined service at Riverview @ 10 am followed by a potluck lunch/brunch.

New Treasurer! I am delighted to tell you that we have a new treasurer, or will once we elect her on January 28, 2018. Lisa Williams has been worshiping with us since September, sings with the East Hants Community Chorale, and joined the church choir a couple of weeks ago. She lives in Enfield with her husband, works at an accounting office in Burnside and has been actively involved in churches all her life. She will be a great addition to the work of the executive! She is taking over from Marge Wagner who was in this role for many years and we thank her for that!  And we are grateful that Fred Barton will be staying on to deal with payroll.

Debbie Musgrave is the new Envelope Secretary taking over from Edna DeMan who looked after this for many, many, MANY years! A big thank you to her too!

Website – Pat Spicer posts the bulletins and announcements each Thursday, and I post the Midweek Message, so if you are wondering what is taking place just head over to the website and check! There is also a calendar which has the most up to date information about events etc. www.elmsdalepastoralcharge.com.
