It’s Thanksgiving Sunday and also World Wide Communion.
And apparently the decorating fairies (aka Kris & Terry Jones) were in one day when I wasn’t there.
Questions I am pondering:
What Is Creation Saying To Us?
How do we love the earth?
How do we express gratitude?
Sunday School started last week, but it’s not too late to register your children.
We are doing things a little differently this year. Each week all the children will start in the Nursery. We will do welcome, celebrate birthdays, read our Bible story and take up an offering. At the end of the year, the children will choose a service project to donate to. After the offering, the children will break into age groups for their activities.
The Riverview Executive in the Grounding Gathering on Wednesday worked on a ‘tag line,’ a short descriptive sentence that reflects Riverview United Church. A tagline is not meant to replace a Vision Statement or Core Values, but helps convey to newcomers what we are about. The Executive looked at the Core Values exercise we did as a congregation in the spring came and settled on:
Riverview United Church – A place to grow in faith and friendship.

Truro Presbytery is hosting the Kairos Blanket Exercise on Thursday, October 11th at 5:30 pm at Hilden United Church Hall. You don’t have to be a presbytery member to attend. Elder Jane Abram will lead us. Bring your own bag supper at 5 and the exercise beginning at 5:30. We anticipate this exercise and talking circle will take a couple of hours. All you need bring [aside from your supper if you plan on eating at 5!] is a commitment to Indigenous Justice and a curiosity about an accurate recounting of history from the time of European contact with the Indigenous People of Turtle Island.
