Thursday Thoughts – November 8, 2018

The last time Remembrance Day fell on a Sunday was 2007 (thank you Google!)

We will have our regular service at Riverview at 9:30, and then there is a Community Service at 10:30 at the Cenotaph, on the edge of the parking lot. Hopefully I can get out!

We will be marking Remembrance Day in both services.

This week’s reading: Mark 12: 38-44

Reflection Title: What’s Under Our Clothes?

Questions I have been pondering:
• What do we wear?
• Why do we wear it?
• What do our clothes or ‘uniforms’ say?
• Are we hiding something?
• Does God care what we wear?

There is no Sunday School this week; children are always welcome to stay in the service, either with their parents or at the prayground. There will also be some activity sheets etc. set up in the Quiet Room off the sanctuary if parents want to go there as the speaker in the nursery is not working.

Other Things That Are Going On

The Joint Needs Assessment Committee (JNAC) Report was approved by Halifax Presbytery and has been posted on the Maritime Conference website.

prayerPrayer is my ‘star word’ for 2018; as you can see, I keep it close by. Little did I know how much praying I would do… I will continue to hold everyone who is connected to both congregations in prayer, as you move into this next phase of your life.

I am off to chair the final meeting of Conference Executive early Friday morning, back mid-afternoon on Saturday.
