Reflection – Nothing Lasts Forever

Questions I have been pondering:
• What does it mean when our institutions are crumbling around us?
• How can we embrace change with a joyous heart?
• How can we remember that all things must pass?

Other Things That Are Going On

The Joint Search Committee is in place; the members are Betty Allen, Donna Anderson, Emily Black, Margaret Hines, Michael Rainnie, Murray Wellwood and Yvonne White. The presbytery representative is the Rev. Dr. Ross Bartlett who was part of the JNAC. Let’s all hold these folks in prayer as they discern together who is the best candidate to lead you in the next stage of your life.

Last spring we hosted a Community Round Table with guests from the community to see what we might do together to benefit the community. The consensus was a Free Community Meal. The plan was to launch the first one in the fall, but the energy and enthusiasm was not there at the time, in part because some of our community partners had changed or shifted job responsibility and many church members were focused on fundraising for their upcoming trip to NYC to sing at Carnegie Hall. We went ahead and applied to Halifax Presbytery for a Revitalization Grant to host these meals and it was approved! Stay tuned for details in the new year!

Halifax Presbytery also concurred with the application to the Hunter Fund for reimbursement of half of the costs incurred to fix the Family Room; and that application has been forwarded to the Hunter Fund people who meet in early December.

Halifax Presbytery held its last full court meeting on Tuesday evening at Musquodoboit Harbour, a group of us worked on various pieces of worship to celebrate, remember and give thanks for 93 years of service.
