Thursday Thoughts – November 29, 2018

This Sunday is the start of Advent!

Did you know that it’s the 200th anniversary of Silent Night? We are focusing our advent worship around the theme of Calm and Bright and to tie in with the first verse of the hymn, this week we will light the candle of peace.

Scripture is Isaiah 2:1-4; 9:2, 6-7

I have no idea where I am going yet with my reflection.

We will also celebrate the sacrament of communion.

Thanks to all who came to decorate Riverview on Wednesday morning, with special thanks to Edna DeMan, for her phone calls to invite people!

Decorating 2018

Sunday evening, Riverview is hosting the Ecumenical Advent Service @ 7 pm.
Rev. David Fletcher is preaching and Lee Gilmour is leading us in music!
There will be a reception following the service, thanks to the UCW!

Churches

I’ll be participating in this practice: Advent Word 2018, and you are invited to as well.  Take a picture and send it to me or post it on social media etc.

Advent Photo

Our Advent Study started last week, but it’s not too late to join! If you want to explore the Christmas Story through the figures in the nativity, in a safe, supportive environment, join us on Tuesday at 1. Or, bring a lunch at 12!
